How we teach

Shindo - How we teach All of our instructors are not just highly accomplished and expert martial artists, they are also well trained instructors.

The inefficient and poor teaching standards of traditional methods of martial arts instruction have been abandoned in favour of efficiency and excellent communication skills with instructors having recognised teaching qualifications. Combine this with the instructor's martial prowess the student's growth and understanding is rapid and complete.

For Shindo System our classes remain small, we only teach on a private lesson basis or occasionally one to one, this is to ensure the transfer of knowledge and understanding is effective and direct. To see the student's eyes the instructor can counter any misunderstanding and ensure the lesson is felt, whilst the student can see in the instructor's eyes the passion for the subject, that the lesson is genuine and truthful. To accompany these education sessions we offer group sessions to embed and understand the learning. All sessions make useof a variety of resources and protective equipment. Students are encouraged to obtain their own personal protective equipment.

We teach everything in three stages to ensure understanding:

1, Dynamics of the technique.

2, Applications of technique. With varying levels of 'Aliveness'

3, Impact conditioning of technique, again with varying levels of 'Aliveness

The training methods and mature content of TRUE martial arts will always make it unsuitable for children (16+ only).

Shindo - How we teachFor those whose reasons for studying Martial Arts are not for Self Defence/Protection we teach Fun classes of non combat orientated Martial Arts. The emphasis of these classes is on Fun, Fitness and Fellowship. Again we use a variety of resources to ensure you achieve your goals and understand the lessons given. These sessions are 1 hour long and take place at our various centres in your area.

All styles at Shindo have a comprehensive and structured syllabus, designed to give the learner realistic and achieviable goals whilst improving previously learnt techniques and concepts. A grading/ Assessment process confirms understanding and development to both student and instructor.

All instructors are re-examined annually to keep them at the top of their game, they are also still students and still have regular lessons for the same reasons you do (even our Chief Instructors.)

We at Shindo take our responsibilities as providers of education seriously. We have many assesment methods emplaced to evaluate the students progress, as well as the instructors teaching methods. We have established ground rules to promote inclusion, equality and diversity. We have in place policies covering health and safety, codes of conduct, equal opportunities and quality assurance. Shindo have grievance and appeals proceedures in place.
